Charges Explanation

The Empower Charges for Empower’s District Cooling Service is as follows:


1. Consumption Charge:  
According to meter reading, as and when you use the District Cooling Service, the meter will run and this is charged at Dhs 0.568 fils per RT per hour. It is billed in arrear at the end of each month.


2. Demand Charge:
This is a recurring annual charge, levied by Empower for providing District Cooling Service to the Apt., of AED 750 per Refrigeration Ton (RT) per annum, billed and paid quarterly in advance. It is billed in advance i.e. one month before the start on the quarter, for instance the demand charges for July to September 2011 are taken in the month of June 2011 and so on. It is calculated as follows:
Example:
Yearly Demand Charge: 2.7 RT (The RT load of  
 the a/c of your unit) * 750 = 2025 Dhs per Year.
Quarterly Demand Charge: 2025/4 = 506.25 Dhs  
 per 3 Months

3. Fuel Surcharges:

Due to the steady increase in the fuel price experienced in the world markets a Fuel Surcharge will be included in the bill from 1st January, 2011. DEWA will calculate this charge on transparent basis and the same will be passed on by Empower to its customers in the monthly bills of District Cooling Service. It is billed in arrear at the end of each month.


4. Meter Maintenance:

This is charged quarterly at Dhs 50 per 3 Months to cover the testing and maintenance of each meter installed in the unit. It is billed in the last month of each quarter i.e. the meter maintenance charge for the quarter of April to June 2011 is taken in the month of June, 2011.


5. Connection Charge:
One off fee to be paid by the First Owner to get the connection on which is different from the Refundable Security Deposit.


6. Administration Charge:
One off fee to be paid by the First Owner at the time of registration.
