Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)

shareholdersThe Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) was formed in January 1992 by a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum to take over and merge the Dubai Electrical Company and Dubai Water Department that had been operating independently for several years. Both organizations were established in 1959 as Government supported bodies with the objective of providing Dubai with an adequate and reliable source of electricity and water. Today DEWA is well known for its service efficiency and reliability that meets the growing demands of consumers.

Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone (TECOM)

The Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone is a zone set up by the Dubai Government to support the development of knowledge-based businesses. The Free Zone has three separate knowledge clusters; ICT through Dubai Internet City, Media through Dubai Media City and Education and Training through Knowledge Village.

In addition, TECOM has initiated various other prestigious projects, to name a few:

  • shareholdersiMPZ (International Media Production Zone) -a free zone dedicated to the media production activities. It provides a highly pro-business environment and a complete technology and community infrastructure to support and foster the growth of media production.
  • DuBiotech (Dubai Biotechnology & Research Park) -the world's first free zone dedicated to biotechnology. Dubiotech promises to be the regional centre of excellence for biotechnology.
  • Dubai Studio City - An initiative that seeks to foster the growth of the broadcast, film and music production industries in the region.
  • DOZ (Dubai Outsource Zone) - provides a comprehensive infrastructure and environment for outsourcing companies to set up global or regional hubs servicing the worldwide market.
